White-throated Swift in flight. ©2012 James McGrew
These little rockets are the most difficult birds I've tried to photograph in flight. They zip through the air with amazing speed (and have reportedly outrun/maneuvered Peregrine Falcons), chasing insects and playing with each other while rapidly changing direction and speed. I shot this with a Canon 400mm f4 DO and 1DmkII. I don't know that I could have captured it with many other combinations.
